The 40K Fight Club is running an all around 40K Tournament on 4/23/11. I'd love if some of you could make it out for the event. I've uploaded the rules for the event to this post.

You can also get information on the event on our boards here: http://40kfightclub.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=181701#181701

You may want to post questions there for the quickest response.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

That composition point system is loopy! I can kinda understand the encouragement to play the older codices rather than the flavor of the month, but their point system is just weird. And deductions for having the same type of unit more than once? Combine that with bonus points for 5 or 6 troops when quite a few codices only have two troop choices???? OK, after another look, troops are exempt from that, but still. Tau only have one viable Elite choice, in my opinion, and the level of firepower on the table these days all but requires two squads of broadsides.

Looooooooooooooooooooopy!

Glad to hear the Tau complain about this first before this veteran guard player steps in. Comp, especially how this system is laid out, is bullshit.

Haha...I play the Bugs...while I don't like the system...I have at least six options for each slot with the only nonviable options being Pyrovores and Old One Eye.

I can even get six different troops.

Booyah.

So can I (almost). Doesn't mean that the system is any better.

Sorry you feel it's BS, it's just a system to encourage people to step outside of their little box and try something new.

If it's not for you, fine, but it couldn't hurt to have an open mind before you declare something is BS.

And note also that it doesn't require 5 or 6 different troop choices, just 5 or 6. 6 units of Fire Warriors and IG Veterans would count. It's the other categories that cannot have mulitples without taking a hit.

There are only 4 spots available for the Renaissance Clash this Saturday.

All of the other spots are already paid for, so it's unlikely that there will be no shows.

If you are interested in getting one of these last few spots, call and reserve your spot now!

Call The Fortress Comics and Games and tell them you want to sign up.

Thanks and see you Saturday!

On rereading the system, the force org encouragements don't sound all that bad, although encouraging a full 6 troops is not really viable for some armies. The Tau, of course, can not take vehicle-killing weaponry in their troop slots unless you count the krootox (which I don't). Add to that the fact that we only have two Elite choices available and I don't like one of them? That might be what the army comp modifier is trying to account for, but it seems awfully arbitrary and hard to balance. If the rules would have allowed me to proxy piranhas as tetras I would have been interested, but I asked and that's a no. I'm seriously tournamented and Tau'd out after Adepticon and Marmalade Dog though, so it's just as well.
