Seems that Tau may have gotten an updated FAQ that no one realized. One of the things I noticed...

Quote:
Q: What happens to the gun drones on a vehicle if the
vehicle is destroyed? (p30)
A: The gun drones will be destroyed along with the
vehicle. Note that they do not give away an additional kill
point as they have not been detached from the vehicle.

Pretty sure that's new and was never the case. Gives Tau a few less killpoints that they have to worry about.

Here's another I noticed.

Quote:
Q: How are cover saves worked out for smart missile
systems and seeker missiles as they do not need line of
sight? (p27, 30)
A: The target will only receive cover saves that are not
based on line of sight. This would include when at least
half the unit is in area terrain; or a vehicle with wargear or
a special rule that means they are obscurred.

Correct on both counts. The cover save from seeker and smart missiles is how I've always played it anyway, and how INAT defines it. The drones are a big change. Previously, there was nothing to overrule the Codex which states that they are treated as passengers if the vehicles is damaged. This created some strange results like gun drones being more likely to survive the explosion of a piranha than a devilfish (the piranha is open-topped). The real problem, and the reason that I haven't run gun drones in forever, is that a single melta shot likely produces two killpoints.

After Adepticon then Marmalade Dog in Kalamazoo last weekend I'm pretty thoroughly Tau'd out, unfortunately, but it's nice to have two viable choices of how to configure vehicles rather than one.
