So I have so far gotten in two games against the new 'dex and I gotta say I love it!

I took my Eldar in the first outing against them and lost in a close one. In the second game my Knights of Blood got a crack at 'em and I pulled out a win in that one.

What really struck me though was how much fun both games were. I had a blast in each! I think that they have a really unique set of rules that add a new dimension to the 40k game. They are by no means the new OMG, over-the-top, overpowered, Ward-dex of doom. Instead they seem really balanced. When you look at it it seems like they would have some trouble against mechanized armies. They have very little in the way of melta style weapons or other common solutions to dealing with mech (missile launcher spam anyone?), but despite that they have so many ways of disabling them and whittling away at them that by the end of the game it's surprising how much they've destroyed.

All around, my early impressions are that this dex is a home run. I don't know if it will end up one of the top tournament armies, I think probably not, but if it's as fun to play as it is to play against then I see it being a mainstay on the tables for some time anyways.

So have you played against them (or with them) yet? If so what were your impressions so far?

I have not played against them, but I must admit I like their new fluff except for one little story. That dealing with the Celestial Orrery. The fact that they can make any star go super nova without being anywhere near it is just gross and makes them seem a bit too over powered in the fluff. Yes, I know the keeper of said device doesn't like to pop stars without a lot of thinking first, but still that's just crazy. Otherwise everything in the dex seems fine.

I too love this codex, i have fought two battles playing as Necrons. First with the models i had. Turned out not to be that good of a list, but it was a 10 year old list... Second battle was against Eric and i feel as though i gave him a pretty good run for his money... overall I am having a blast playing with my new old army. :)
and if anybody calls me a bandwagoner, i will be very SAD.

Nate...you don't jump on bandwagons...you just make sure you always have a seat on EVERY WAGON.

Thing is if you had played your Necrons at the barn two months prior to release you wouldn't be considered a wagon rider. No matter. Necrons are sweet so no biggie.

Yeah, but why would he have wanted to play them two months ago?

I got a game in as well. My opponent used Imotekh the Stormlord who I must say is a huge pain but makes for some really unique situations. Those lightning bolts he can throw out are serious business. I wound up winning with my Salamanders but my dice were pretty hot.

I agree without pretty much everything you guys are saying. They seem like a ton of fun to play and play against. Thumbs up!

Down in Portage while playing against some Orkz, I saw Crons vs DE.

Seemed a pretty balanced fight, DE lost pretty badly due to piece meal more then anything from what I was told.
