Let's ask this nasty question: Does the Space Wolves psychic power Jaws of the World Wolf affect Jump Infantry? The description says that it affects Infantry, Beast / Cavalry, Monstrous Creatures (with a modification to the die roll), and Bikes. The FAQ clears up that it affects the gunner component of Artillery and that Jetbikes are a subclass of Bikes so they are affected as well. Vehicles are clearly not affected, but what about Jump Infantry? It seems perfectly clear to me that Jump Infantry is a separate class of unit from the rest. Each unit in 40k is a member of exactly one class (Infantry, Jump Infantry, Monstrous Creature, Bike, Beast / Cavalry, Vehicle, Artillery) as specified in pgs 4 and 5 of the rulebook. They might have other rules that modify things like Swarm or Independent Character, but that doesn't change their unit type. There are also sub-classes of some units like Jetpack (sub-class of Jump Infantry) or Jetbike (subclass of Bike), but that doesn't change their core unit type either. JotWW lists 5 classes of unit that it affects, and the remaining ones (Jump Infantry and Vehicles) should then be immune.
I have heard some wacky arguments for why this is not true, but I'm not convinced. Some have argued that Jump Infantry are Infantry because of the name, and other have argued that because the inset on pg 52 comes after Jump Infantry and Monstrous Creatures that they are both subclasses of infantry.
Related to this, and the reason I brought it up here, is the discussion about winged monstrous creatures deep striking. In my opinion, a Monstrous Creature with Daemonic Flight, Wings, or a similar rule that make it move as Jump Infantry does NOT change its core unit type. Such a model would be treated as a Monstrous Creature when hit by Jaws, so it would get the -1 on its initiative test (making it more likely to survive), but it would not be immune.
What do the rest of you think?
