I wouldn't use LOTR models. They aren't quite the same scale as normal 40k ones and thus will probably look out of place.

I second the comment about LOTR they are not the right scale and will look a little off to me.

When I think crusaders I think something like these guys

like the shields and helms on those last guys. would need to find some sword arms though i think. Those spears look kinda out of place in 40k. They remind me of Shock Lances (from Wheel of Time books)

Menoth Flameguard is the unit.

The unit box is currently out of stuck, but the 2man blisters are available.

I can get those for you for $8.25 each.

The full unit box (when in stock) would run $24.75

90% of the warmachine models are all metal. There's some plastics hitting here and there, but it's few and far between.

Is converting regular cadians out of the picture? They all wear flak armor so at the least the bodies would fit with the appropriate wargear.

Yeah...definitely not doing that...crusaders are one of my favorite units in the Grey Knight Codex...going to represent them well...guardsman bodies with stormshield and power weapon arms just doesn't cut it for me...

You know you can take the flak armor of the cadians, take some heads from wherever, add in storm shields and give them some random arms and different legs from just about whatever and you have crusaders made pretty easily.
