After next month's dues collection, we should have enough money to begin building some new boards. I'm looking for ideas on how people think new boards should be assembled. Here's a few ideas that I've come up with.

1. Simple wooden boards - Similar to what we have now, just regular pieces of wood aprox 1/2" thick. We'll flock and paint them, and call it good.

2. Boards built on a frame - Basically something similar to what Cobblestone Hobbies has. Jeff and I built those tables for them a few years ago, and they came out pretty decent. Lightweight as the board is just a frame with a thin piece of wood overtop. It was then covered with some form of adhesive covering that is used for model trains.

3. Foam boards - Basically, pieces of 6' x 4' pieces of foam, flocked, painted and somehow have the sides and bottoms covered with some material to prevent the foam from shedding away.

4. Foam boards in a frame - Think of something similar to the lava board that Kyle built. A wooden frame that would support a removeable piece of foam. The foam could be painted, flocked, even have different sorts for xenos terrain, trench warfare, etc... The frame would protect the sides and different boards could be popped in and out depending on which style the players want.

Those are a few ideas that I have of the top of my head. I'd love to get some thoughts, suggestions or even reasons why each idea is good/bad.

I won't say that it's no longer needed, as it can be nice having a table of that size for use in larger games. We just need to clean and rearrange the barn a bit so that we have room to put it out. Right in the middle there took up a bit too much room, and I think it'd be better in the section where the lava board is now, but turned the other way. We just need to get all that foam and wall materials out of the way first.

I think the boards will probably be rearranged this Friday because of the Apoc game, but I don't mind helping out next week. Also I would love to assist in making a trench board. That would be so fraking sweet.

Oh believe me, I had already assumed you'd be the point man for that type of board.
