So I have been toying around with the idea of a way to hold tournaments on regular gaming nights and came up with what I am calling the 'Mini-'ments'. They will be a monthly tournament held at the barn. I'm calling them 'mini' because they will be at smaller points sizes with a modified, smaller force org chart and played on a smaller table.

To kick of the series we are going to be holding the first one on Saturday, November 12th.

Below are a set of general rules.

Armies will be built to a 1000 points limit. The force organization chart shall be modified as follows
1- HQ
1-3 Troops
0-1 Elites
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support
with one additional 'floating' force org slot that may be used to purchase an additional choice from either HQ, Elites, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support

Games shall be played on 4'x4' tables.

The 'Mini-'ments' will be single elimination tournaments. Once you lose you are out. They will consist of 8 players and play down to 1 eventual winner over the course of 3 games.

Rounds one and two shall be 1-1/2 hours long with a 15 minute break after each round. (So if you are eliminated early there will be plenty of time and tables still available for regular gaming!)
Round 3, which will determine the eventual winner, shall be un-timed.

There will be a tournament buy-in of $5.00. With eight players that creates a prize pool of $40.00 which shall be awarded as follows.

1st place: $25
2nd place: $15

In order to try to ensure a different winner each month the winner of one month shall not be eligible to play the next month. It is hoped that they would be willing to run the next months event, but not required. If it turns out that there are not enough registrants come the day of the tournament then this restriction may be lifted to fill out the tournament bracket.

For all tournaments WYSIWYG will be enforced. Further all models must be on the appropriate sized bases.

For the first two events there will be no painting requirements, however come month three there will be instituted a 3 color minimum + based requirement for all armies (don't complain, that's three months to get 1000pts painted!)

In a future post I will detail a breakdown of the missions and tournament itinerary.

If you are interested in playing you may register in advance by sending me a private message. Get in early to ensure your spot! I will only accept pre-registration via PM, posting a response here will NOT guarantee your spot!

You're right. The barn is actually going to be open on Saturday the 12th, so you'll have all Friday night to play Skyrim. I have gone back and edited the original message, Thanks!

Chances are I'm just horrible at reading, but when does this start?

At this point, I don't know if it is. Only three people have registered so far. If I don't get any more I am going to cancel it altogether and spend the night with my girlfriend instead. I'm probably already in trouble for planning to game on her night off, I'm not going to incur her anger just hoping that people show up.

If I do get a bunch of late registrations then I would likely plan on having game one start at 7:00. Since the Barn is opening at 6:00 this gives plenty of time for people to get there, get set up and do table assignments.

Alright, so I still don't quite have enough people, but we're very close. So we're gonna give it a try. Games are to start at 7:00pm. If you are planning on playing try to get there a bit early to get table assignments etc. taken care of.y
